World Cup update: nil-nil, no shots, no fun
A lot has happened since the England game – and it all started with… nothing.
England 0–0 Ghana: 79% possession, Kane off the bar, Kane over the bar, Beckham in the dugout more exciting than the match. A World Cup first: not a single shot on target in one half. Anyone who tipped 1–0 for the Three Lions may want to revisit the scoring.
At least things picked up after that: Croatia scraped through 1–0 against Panama with a Budimir super-sub goal – Modrić's 200th cap, Panama out. Colombia broke down DR Congo late (1–0) and are through to the knockouts. Keeper Mpasi the hero again – until Muñoz intervened in the 76th minute.
Tonight (9 pm) it's the Group B finale: Switzerland – Canada and, at the same time, Bosnia – Qatar. If you're tipping a goalless draw like England, make sure you mean it.
Into Friday morning then – Miami fairy tale or nightmare: Scotland – Brazil, plus Morocco – Haiti. And at 3 am in Mexico City: Czech Republic – Mexico – don't sleep through your pick!
